The Healing Power of Reiki | Cancer Support

I don't often share other peoples work, unless I am utilising some of it for a blog written through my own viewpoint and am looking for research based facts to back up my theories. However, when I was approached by Aidrick at Asbestos to share some research they had conducted around the healing benefits of Reiki for supporting Cancer - I really wanted to get the message out!

P.s. thanks Maralie for being a beautiful Reiki model and Amanda for all of these photos to demonstrate what I do and how I work!

This was their email:

Hi Monique,

My name is Aidrick Ortega and I work in the public outreach department of The Mesothelioma Center (Asbestos.com). I came across your website while browsing on Alternative Medicine and Reiki therapy sites and thought there might be some crossover that our page could be a relevant resource for your users that are looking to learn more about this topic.

I wanted to offer our page https://www.asbestos.com/blog/2015/05/12/reiki-for-cancer-treatment/ as an addition to complement the other great information you highlight on your web page.

People with cancer often turn to complementary and alternative therapies to help treat cancer and its effects on the mind and body. Reiki is a non-invasive therapy that passes subtle energy from one being to another to help promote well-being, It helps relieve tension, anxiety, and fear. In the guide I placed above, you can find more information about how Reiki therapy can help cancer patients that are looking for alternative ways to stand this fight.

If you have any questions or feedback please feel free to email me back. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Respectfully,

Aidrick

By no means am I saying here that Reiki can heal cancer, but after reading through the article below, it brought to mind one of my most treasured clients that came to me after her clinical cancer treatments, saying that she no longer wanted radiation and was desperately trying to come back to her true being, naturally. Over six weeks, we worked together weekly (sometimes twice weekly!) to relieve stress and anxiety in regards to the situation; help her breathing become deeper (she suffered from shortness/shallowness of breath); aid with sleep; and help her come back to her 'self' - spiritually, mentally, emotionally and even physically. I am pleased to announce that through the course of her sessions and other alternative healing therapies (I believe she was also seeing a nutritionist/naturopath among others), she is thriving amidst a harrowing tale of fight, lockdowns and additional stressors that the past two years have thrust upon us all.

Before reading the article sent by Aidrick, it is my duty to remind you that during Reiki, you are doing the work just as I am through your subconscious needs, and again, that Reiki or other energy healing will not cure cancer on their own merits. Reiki allows people to deeply relax through Alpha and Theta brain waves, that is, stages of consciousness that are between being awake and asleep in order to release the body from a state of 'fight or flight', and aid the parasympathetic nervous system to calm you down at a physical, emotional and mental state. All this, while being completely aware of what is going on (or being in a nice little 'la la land') and at any given stage, being able to stop the treatment; unlike hypnosis where the healer is essentially in charge of these decisions. This induces your body into rest at a deep level, and the universal healing energy that flows through me as a conduit (with best intentions set!) flows into you to help you heal for your highest and greatest good - But I'll dive into this at a deeper level in another article.

So without further introduction, here is the article sent from the USA:

"Ask the majority of people what they fear most and the answer will be cancer.

That’s hardly surprising since this prevalent disease is responsible for more deaths around the world than any other cause. Cancer is the leading cause of death in Australia and the second most common cause of death in the U.S., but there is real hope of turning these statistics around.

Thanks to advancement in medical technology, some cancers can be detected in the early stages, optimizing treatment and survival rates. Over the past 20 years, survival rates for many common cancers has risen by 30 percent, and more than half of cancer patients are still surviving five years after diagnosis.

As medical practices and treatment options continue to evolve, so too does the understanding of the human mind and body, and the vital role they play in our survival.

Scientific evidence shows the mind and body are connected, and both must be at peace when fighting cancer. Patients with high expectations of getting better, often do because of the release of biological chemicals altering specific areas of the brain to aid in recovery.

Mind-body therapy is any practice that helps restore the balance between the mind, body and soul, and it creates in-depth healing on all levels — spiritual, mental and physical.

Ongoing research has shown that mind-body therapy can improve quality of life for those with a life-limited illness, such as mesothelioma, in a number of ways including:

  • Reduction of pain

  • Reduction in chemotherapy side effects

  • Reduction of stress and anxiety

There are many different types of mind-body therapies, including yoga, tai chi, meditation, qigong, creative visualization, pranic healing and art therapy. One of the most accepted and practiced forms of alternative therapy is Reiki which works in conjunction with regular medical or psychological treatment. Those trained in the art of Reiki therapy tap into the infinite supply of healing energy in the universe and transfer it to others by laying their hands on or slightly above different areas of the body.

Taking good care of the body and mind is equally important for those already diagnosed with cancer because it will give them the physical and emotional strength needed to fight the disease." - Lorraine Kember

I would love to know your thoughts on this article, and if you're interested, I've compiled some more exciting research work at the bottom of this blog to support the science behind Reiki. While I lean into Reiki and Seichim due to a strong personal belief system based on experiences, I love seeing more science backed research popping up all over the world about other people's experiences, and I am always happy to share other perspectives. It's great to confirm globally that Reiki (and other forms of energy healing) not only leaves you feeling deeply relaxed for a lengthy period of time after just 45 minutes of treatment, but also how it can change your mind, body and soul over prolonged periods too.

🌟🌟 For those of you locally, I am pleased to announce I will now be working out of 'The Prana Room' on Tuesdays in the leafy suburb of Buderim (Sunshine Coast). As always, I am still offering Distance Reiki & Seichim healings to get deep into the subconscious and induce healing states, as well as opening up in-person bookings in Melbourne from Monday April 4th - Friday 22nd (Friday 15th - Monday 18th is at full capacity) 🌟🌟

Until my next blog,

Love & light,

Monique Elouise xx

🌟P.S. Please contact me at m.elouise@outlook.com or 0406713018 if you have problems with the booking system xx🌟🌟
